Pharmacontrol Electronic GmbH (PCE) from Germany gives a positive résumé about its launch in Korea. The first active trade fair participation of the market leader for Datamatrix control as well as Track &Trace solutions for the pharmaceutical industry has been a great success. Within a short period of time, PCE managed to get in contact with the Korean market leadership for Datamatrix control and thus continues to grow rapidly on international level. In close collaboration with its partner Korea Unicom, the Datamatrix Station and the Mini-LCS were presented to a broad audience. Korea Unicom, founded in 1989, takes over with a total of 9 employees the sales and after sales activities for PCE, Zwingenberg. The company also services other companies, such as Newman Labelling, UET and GUK.
So far only a limited number of international pharmaceutical companies are presented with their own production on the Korean market, such as Janssen-Cilag. The pharmaceutical market is dominated by several major local producers. From a technological point of view, the highly developed Korean country with its ca. 50 Mio. habitants, thereof more than 15 Mio. living in Seoul, is a suitable partner for PCE as a high-performance and innovative company. Amongst the customers in Korea are so far: Hana Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd, Koreavaccine Co.,Ltd., CJ CheilJedang Pharmaceutics, Bukwang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Myungmoon pharmaceutical Co.,Ltd., Choong Ang Vaccine Laboratory, KYUNGBO PHARM CO.,LTD, Yuhan Corporation, Kunwha Pharm. Co., Ltd, Daewon Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. - Seoul.
Already starting in 2010, the Korean legislation intends to implement the marking and control of units that are smaller than 15ml/g. These units are typically ampulae and vials. All prescription products must thus be marked with a GS1-Datamatrix Code. This is exactly the field of application PCE has proven its competence for several years. The legislator does not consider the serialization at present. However, Pharmacontrol Electronic GmbH provides a fully developed solution for this problem with its PILOT Track &Trace software that is available already today. The approach of the new regulations is comparable to the mandatory marking in France (French Coding).
Overview of the planned serialization directives in Korea until 2013.
